Sailings 1.21

Sailing represents a methodology for effectively addressing various navigational challenges, such as course calculations, distance measurements, latitude and longitude differentials, and departure procedures.

The application visually maps the path between an initial point and an end destination on a Google map, employing the two primary sailing methods:

• Rhumb line (loxodromic).
• Great Circle (orthodromic).

It provides computations for:

• Courses and distances.
• Significant waypoints along the great circle trajectory.
• Deviation between Rhumb line and Great Circle paths.
• Nodal and vertex points along the Great Circle route.

In addition, it generates a comprehensive visualization of the entire Great Circle route.

OPERATION

1. Long press on Point 1: defines the departure point.
2. Long press on Point 2: specifies the destination point and outlines both RL & GC paths.
3. Tap on the Marker to view detailed information.
4. [Output]

• GC course (C) and distance (D).
• Deviation between Rhumb Line & Great Circle routes.
• Waypoints along the Great Circle trajectory.
• Nodal and vertex points of the Great Circle.

NOTE: This application is not intended for real-time navigation. The Sailings App serves as a valuable tool for navigation calculations.

User interface:

• Zoom buttons (+/-).
• Map display options: normal, terrain, and satellite views.
• GPS functionality (Requires granting "Location" app permission. Activate GPS for automatic location detection).
